A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I spent my childhood in England during a portion of Margaret Thatcher's term as Prime Minister and recall the ongoing struggles the working class unions endured. When my parents decided to move to New Mexico, where my Father grew up, I had the opportunity to work for Southwest Airlines and joined the IAMAW . The day I completed probation I became a shop Steward and so began my journey and passion for the continual fight for workers rights and equality.
I initiated into Local Lodge 1635 in 1993. As soon as a passed probation, I served as a Shop Steward and maintained that important position for over 20 years at the Albuquerque Reservations Center for Southwest Airlines. I also served as an Auditor for LL 1635 and LL Communicator/Educator.
As I became more involved in the IAM, I realized the important role that public policy and the legislative process played in the lives of working families. I had the honor to serve the New Mexico State Council of Machinists as a delegate and auditor.
I also served 10 years as LL 1635 Secretary Treasurer and had the honor to serve on various committees for District Lodge 142, including Home/Remote Agent Committee for the Transportation Department, Screening Committee for Southwest Airlines Negotiations and Teller for contract ratifications and election votes.
In the 17 years I have served as a financial officer at the local and district level, I have oversaw approximately $650,000 of cumulative surpluses.
I also was an Advisor/Committee person for Joint Labor Relations Committees serving Southwest Airlines.
I also served in the critical role of District Lodge 142 Educator and had the distinct honor to be elected to serve on the Law Committee for the 2020 Grand Lodge Convention, which will take place at a date to be determined.
I currently serve as District Lodge 142 Secretary Treasurer, a position the IAM members have elected me twice since 2014.
