In a sad and pathetic attempted explanation for current GST Dora’s Cervantes’ attempted cover-up of more than $115,000 in IAM members’ dues money at Local Lodge 2198, Dora’s home local, the Cervantes campaign claims she “recused” herself from doing the right thing and investigating the theft by her sister, Norma Ramirez, and two others because of her family connection to the crime. This is just another lie in a growing list of lies by Dora and those who support her.
Here are the facts: (1) There is nothing in the IAM Constitution that allows the GST to “recuse” herself from investigating and bringing to justice those that steal from IAM members. That’s just Dora’s excuse for her attempt to cover up the fraud committed by her sister and others; (2) Dora knew that her sister and others were ripping off IAM members for MONTHS and she refused to place Local Lodge 2198 under supervision and get to the bottom of what was going on. She did NOT assign Grand Lodge Auditors to investigate. It was the Grand Lodge Transportation Department that investigated and uncovered the theft. My campaign also has evidence that at least one other IAM General Vice President sided with Dora to cover up the theft of IAM members’ dues money after knowing the theft was ongoing.
Even when the Transportation Department presented all the facts about the theft, over 230 pages of evidence, Dora still refused to place Local Lodge 2198, her and her sister’s local, under supervision.
Sisters and brothers this is an extraordinary lack of leadership, integrity and an utter dereliction of her constitutional role to safeguard IAM members’ dues money. This is why we need change.
The very fact Dora Cervantes in now lying about her role in this scandal should anger every IAM member and my campaign will not allow her to get away with this. That I can guarantee.
I promise that I will never defraud this Union out of anything whatsoever, or allow it to be defrauded, if within my power to prevent it. To all of this, I most solemnly pledge my sacred word of honor—Challenger and Candidate for IAM GST Ian Scott-Anderman
